Na’shell Williams who through her visionary leadership has transformed the City of Wichita’s Way to Work (TWTW) Youth Employment Program, was announced as the winner of the 2024 Excellence in Public Service Award winner for the City of Wichita.
Each year, the annual program honors an employee from the City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and the Wichita Public Schools who demonstrate a strong work ethic, exceptional performance and a commitment to community. Individuals are nominated for the award by their peers, supervisors or members of the community and are recognized from thousands of eligible workers.
In her position, Williams offers vital support to young individuals facing immense challenges. Under her direction, the Way to Work Program has expanded its scope, introducing counselors who address the whole well-being of program participants. Additionally, she has established a groundbreaking partnership with Wichita State University, providing enhanced training and educational opportunities for program participants.
Na’shell’s unwavering commitment to the youth goes beyond her professional role, with her attending many of their important life events, showcasing genuine care, and exemplifing mentorship. With her community involvement and extensive network, Na’shell actively brings additional remarkable impact on the community.resources and support to those in need. Her dedication, even during tragic situations, further highlights her exceptional character.
During her just four years at the City of Wichita’s Housing and Community Services Department, Na’shell has consistently demonstrated outstanding dedication, exceptional performance, and a remarkable impact on the community.
The Excellence in Publics Service Program is sponsored by the DeVore Foundation awards each of the recipients a $2500 prize.
