NAACP Image Awards begin with early streaming wins as Sinners leads and Teyana Taylor ties for top individual noms.

The 57th NAACP Image Awards are officially underway — with a series of early streaming ceremonies leading up to Saturday night’s televised main event.

The NAACP is hosting three pre-ceremony streaming presentations this week honoring winners in categories that will not be part of the live broadcast. The first streamed Monday, recognizing winners in literary, short-form and digital creator categories. Additional streaming ceremonies are scheduled for Wednesday (music and podcast categories) and Thursday (non-televised film, television and writing categories). Together, those events cover the majority of the Image Awards’ 93 categories.

The streaming presentations are available through the NAACP Image Awards’ official digital platforms, including YouTube and social channels.

Among Monday’s winners was Michelle Obama, who earned Outstanding Literary Work – Biography/Autobiography for “The Look.” Will Packer won Outstanding Literary Work – Instructional for “Who Better Than You?”

Fox’s presentation of the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show starring Kendrick Lamar took home Outstanding Short-Form Series or Special – Reality/Nonfiction/Documentary.

Lamar is also one of the top nominees heading into Saturday’s marquee awards. He is nominated for Entertainer of the Year and has six total nominations, tying him with Teyana Taylor for the most among individuals.

In film categories, Warner Bros.’ Sinners leads all nominees with 18 nominations. Its star, Michael B. Jordan, is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, alongside Lamar, Taylor, Cynthia Erivo and Doechii.

The remaining major category winners will be revealed during the live broadcast of the 57th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, Feb. 28, airing at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on BET and CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Special honors will be presented during the televised ceremony to Viola Davis (Chairman’s Award) and Colman Domingo (President’s Award).

Saturday’s broadcast will spotlight the biggest awards of the night — including Entertainer of the Year — as the celebration of Black excellence across film, television, music, literature and digital media continues.
