Open Streets ICT returns to the WSU and the Shocker Neighborhood for its third year on Sun., April 13 from noon to 4 p.m.
The community-building event, sponsored by Wichita Park and Recreation, gives the public access to biking, running, walking a variety of games and visiting vendors and food trucks on a closed two-mile stretch of 17th Street between Oliver and Volutsia.
Open Streets ICT is intended to promote healthy active living and social engagement. The event is free to the public and to groups, businesses, organizations and vendors. You can also enjoy music and live entertainment.

This year two Hubs are planned – one at Chester I Lewis School at 17th and Chautauqua and the other at Ulrich Museum on the WSU Campus. The hubs are concentrated areas for food, entertainment and special activities. This year, the Ulrich Museum Hub will feature an art market, featuring the work of local artists.
In support of the events, 17th Street from Oliver to Volutsia will be closed to automobile traffic from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Open Streets ICT began in 2017 with Douglas Avenue downtown closed for four miles for biking, walking and activities. In addition to the Douglas Open ICT event held each fall, two additional events are sponsored each year, the ICT Open Streets WSU and Open Streets in the Nomar District near 21st and Broadway.
This is the first Open Streets ICT to be held at WSU and in the Shocker Neighborhood.
