You have to go back to July 13, five whole months, since “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has been the number one song in the country.  The song by Black Country Western singer Shaboozey topped the Billboard 100 list for 19 straight weeks.

The song is a country-hip-hop remix of the 2004 rap hit “Tipsy” by J-Kwon.   Shaboozey’s arrangement adds in fiddles and the typical twangy country guitars.

Lil Nas X. who held the record for longest-running song at number one since 2019, is now tied with Shaboozey.

Most interesting is the song bumps off another Black country-singer from the singular lead as the longest running number one song on the Billboard 100.  Lil Nas X, country-trap hybrid song “Old Town Road” spent 19-weeks as No. 1 in 2019.  Lil Nas X was accompanied on his song by artist Billy Ray Cyrus.

But, Shaboozey’s run, and potential for surpassing Lil Nas X with 20 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart was stopped by a new number one. Kendrick Lamar recently took over the top post with his “Squabble Up”, a song that samples Debbie Deb’s ‘80s electronic-dance song “When I Hear Music.”
