Evergy Connect will host a resource event specifically geared toward senior citizens Thurs., August 15, to connect them with valuable community resources.
Customers 65 years of age and older can visit Evergy Connect at 111 South Ellis Street in downtown Wichita from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. with no appointment necessary to visit with community partners including:
- Senior Services of Wichita
- Next Level Senior Advisors
- Consumer Credit Counseling Service
- Medicare with Jake
- Workforce Alliance
- AARP Kansas
Customers will have the opportunity to learn about and apply for Evergy Cares, Evergy’s utility assistance fund. The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is available to eligible Kansas customers January through March but does not have a summer window to apply for assistance.
Evergy created the Evergy Cares fund to help customers close that gap and get their accounts in good standing when LIEAP is not accepting applications.
Customers who are behind on their energy bill and meet the 200 percent poverty level can apply to receive financial assistance on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit www.evergy.com/evergycares for a full list of application requirements.
In addition to bill assistance, customers can learn more about new energy efficiency programs that can help them save on their energy costs and receive free LED light bulbs to start saving as soon as they get home.
Free Vornado fans will also be distributed on a first-come first-served basis for customers who haven’t yet received a fan from Evergy in 2024.
Evergy Connect is the company’s in-person customer assistance center in downtown Wichita which offers customized face-to-face consultations and application assistance for utility payment programs and resources, self-service kiosks, energy-savings tools, electric vehicles and an array of additional resources.
Assistance is available in Spanish from bilingual Connect specialists.
