UPDATES 07/21/2024:

Overnight, the Harris campaigned raised $50 million in donations. New papers have been filed with the Federal Election Commission, changing the name officially from the Biden/Harris Campaign to the Harris Campaign. All of the existing staff people are expected to stay on board, which means the campaign can move ahead almost seamlessly.

Trump has pulled out of the next presidential debate and says he will only debate on his terms and he has proposed a debate in September on Fox News.

Endorsement of Harris now from U.S.. Rep. Jim Clyburn and from Bill and Hillary Clinton. The Obama’s have released a statement, in support of Biden, but did not initially endorse Harris.

“What’s ahead is political war,” said reporter Bob Costa. Republicans are ready to ramp up their attacks. So will begin an effort to paint her in a negative way.

Harris can seamlessly inherit the Biden/Harris campaign’s massive warchest; where any other candidate would have to start fundraising from scratch.  

Biden stepping down moves the conversation from will Biden run back to the focus on Donald Trump’s record and platform.

Donald Trump already attacking Kamala Harris releasing a post saying she’s even more liberal than Biden and less competent. Last night at his rally in Michigan, he was already taking aim at Harris. Donald Trump, Jr. in a statement says Harris owns Biden’s record and spoke on what he said was her weak on crime effort as a prosecutor in California.

Appears Democrats are will rally around Harris and the real debate will be who will step in as her vice-presidential nominee.

Democrats will trigger alienating their most loyal group — Black women — if they don’t elevate Kamala Harris to the top of the party’s ticket.

President Biden announced his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris as the candidate. Saying this is the party’s best path forward.


President Biden announced Sunday that he will step aside as the Democratic presidential nominee, ending weeks of hand-wringing among party leaders who urged him to leave the race after a disastrous debate performance left many Democrats fearing he was too old for office and unable to defeat former President Trump.

Biden’s decision opens a path for Vice President Kamala Harris and other possible replacement candidates, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, to hastily mount a campaign for the nomination ahead of the Democratic National Convention in mid-August.

“I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in a statement. He will address the nation later in the week, he said.

He thanked those who worked on the campaign and Harris for being “an extraordinary partner in all this work,” but he did not endorse her to replace him on the ticket.

A Harris-Trump contest would present a stark contrast between Harris — 59, Black, Asian and the first woman to serve as vice president — against the 78-year-old Trump, a convicted felon whose presidency and campaign have been laced with racist and misogynistic underpinnings.
