Jewell Moore, 17, is entering her first Miss Juneteenth ICT contest in the hope of finding a stage for her creativity and personality.
The Northeast Magnet High School student says she wants to reach “teens like me who want to do more than what people tell them to.”
“I plan to grasp the audience of teens who are struggling mentally and get them better outlets for their mental battles,” she said.
She said she enjoys dancing, cheer, art and baking and hopes someday to attend an HBCU out of state and study Bio-Medical Sciences with the goal of becoming a traveling nurse.
The Miss Juneteenth pageant is Thursday, June 13 in the CAC Theater on the WSU campus. Doors open at 6 p.m., pageant starts at 7.
