MCG has a history rich in cultural and community heritage. The club began in approximately 1920 by a small group of local caddies. Due to the era of segregation and Jim Crow, Black players could only play on the designated Black golf course in McKinley Park, renamed McAdams Park in 1966 in honor of the park’s long-time director Emerson McAdams. The caddies had lobbied the City of Wichita to build the  course — originally three holes — in McKinley Park. It wasn’t until 1941 that the course was expanded to 9 holes.

The Club has played a vital role in the community, and is responsible for breaking down cultural barriers in golf and creating scholarships and programs to mentor generations of Wichita youth.

Tournament sponsors include Intrust Bank, the American Legion, and The Community Voice.

The Hampton Inn is the tournament host hotel.  You can still register by phone or in person and get the special tournament rate.
