The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2020 Super Bowl win will be commemorated on limited edition Coca-Cola cans and on bottles of Bud Light beer.
The Coke cans, which say “World Champions,” are produced by the local Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company and will be available on Wednesday at all Kansas City grocery stores. They will eventually be distributed to other parts of Missouri and Kansas. Only 100,000 cases will be distributed.
Bud Light is releasing special edition “Chiefs Kingdom” bottles that will include the Chiefs logo and will read”2020 Super Bowl LIV Champions.”
The special Bud Light bottles will be sold along the parade route Wednesday. Fans will also be able to buy them at participating retailers in Kansas City while supplies last.
For the Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the race to push out the special cans started the morning after the Super Bowl.
“We started producing this at 5 a.m. this morning,” Lenexa Plant Operations Director Teneca Clark told KSHB 41 News on Monday. “We talked about it all last week ’cause we knew the Chiefs were going to come home with a victory.”
The company is based in Lenexa, KS, and has 17 facilities across Kansas, Missouri and Illinois, including Wichita, Topeka, and St. Joseph, MO. About 160 employees are a part of the manufacturing process; many of whom are die-hard Chiefs fans.
“It’s been an exciting season,” Clark said. “Ever since the first game, we knew that the Chiefs had a very good shot and then when we get to the playoffs and all these come-from-behind wins, the atmosphere in this building; knowing that it could lead up to this moment has been very exciting not only for myself, but the team as well.”
Clark said the final design can take several weeks.
