The Kansas Apprenticeship Commission has approved four new apprenticeships for Peaslee Tech. The new programs include; Residential Plumber, Residential Electrician, Facilities Maintenance and Automotive Service Technician. In addition, Peaslee Tech’s Industrial Machinery Mechanic apprenticeship program modifications were approved.

“These apprenticeship opportunities can change the lives of people in Lawrence and Douglas County by providing them with training and opportunities for good paying jobs,” said Shirley Martin-Smith, President of Peaslee Tech’s Board of Directors.

The apprenticeships vary from one to two years in length. In addition to classroom training one night per week, each apprentice must complete 2,000 hours of structured on the job learning for each program year at a sponsoring company, school, not-for-profit, or governmental entity.

In support of the new apprenticeships, the Rice & Kriz Building Trades Laboratory will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:00 p.m. on July 19th, 2018. The ribbon cutting is open to the public, please rsvp to info@peasleetech.org.
