DESCRIPTION:SUNU (from LFK) returns to The Ship to celebrate the release of their new single and a show filled with Afrobeat\, Drums\, Funk\, and Soul!\n\n\nDoors Open 6pm ~ Showtime 7pm-9pm ~ $10 General Admission ~ Reserved Seating Availabile \nSUNU is a World Funk band out of KC/Lawrence that mixes Funk\, Jazz\, Afrobeat\, New Orleans street beats and West African dance drumming to create a tasty brew of shake your booty music. They’ll be joined by the legendary master drummer\, Bolokada Conde for this very special single release party at The Ship. \nTable reservations are available through the ticket link. Otherwise\, all available seating is first come\, first served. Tables enjoy full food and beverage service throughout the evening. \n\n\n\n\nABOUT BOLOKADA \nMoussa “Bolokada” Conde is a master drummer from Kissidougou\, Guinea\, an expert of Malinke or Mandinka rhythms\, and one of the world’s foremost djembefolas. He joined the Les Percussions de Guinée to replace the legendary Noumoudy Keïta as their lead drummer. He has traveled and performed in major venues all over the world since 1996 and was featured in the IMAX movie PULSE: a Stomp Odyssey. Since 2004\, he has been performing and teaching in the United States. He has conducted percussion workshops in many cities in the US and Europe. He has released two musical CD’s\, Morowaya and Sankaran. He stars in the DVD M’bemba Fakoli: A Musical Journey Through Guinea and has released the djembe instructional DVD M’bara. He is the subject of an upcoming documentary\, Bolokada Conde—Malinke Village Djembefola.
