The annul Race, Place and Diversity Award, presented by Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey (KCFAA) is proud to present to two extraordinary recipients: U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Ms. Judith Jamison, Artistic Director Emerita of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. 

The two honorees have the opportunity to share their contributions to the American cultural landscape and give important insights on race and diversity and its importance to America’s success. The first virtual presentation of the two-part series live-aired on Sept. 14; Senator Cory Booker was honored.

During the presentation, Kansas City’s own, Chris Hernandez moderated the discussion of Senator Booker’s education and career, detailing the highlights of his career thus far. Senator Booker spoke about his time as Mayor of Newark, NJ, from back in 2006 and his plans for the future.

Sept. 24 will honor Jamison, and famed director, choreographer and actress, Debbie Allen will moderate.
